YAP: Yet another player
Is a desktop application - media player. Targeted for use on computers running Windows OS to create a library of media files, playback them, and also view DVB broadcasts. The best effect from using a media player is achieved on media center computers in multi-monitor configurations and controlled by remote control.
Key features
Navigator
Specially designed full-screen user interface. The Navigator is displayed in the main window of the player and has several view modes intended for navigation through the library, playlist, file browser, settings change, etc. The navigator is displayed over the presentation (slideshow or video) and is a convenient means of controlling the player in both full-screen and window modes. Control is performed using the keyboard, mouse or remote control.
Library
A virtual repository of links to media files, image files, as well as their metadata and usage statistics. The contents of the library will be stored in the database during the import process.
The Navigator provides easy access to the contents of the library after the import is complete. For already imported files, re-search of files on the disk is no longer required.
The library hierarchy consists of an unlimited number of playlists, groups (which are a representation of MKV containers with chapters or audio playlists) and items (which are the representation of individual media files, chapters or audio tracks).
Support for multi-monitor configurations
The player window can be easily moved between different monitors in the system. The Navigator font sizes are configured separately for each monitor. The positions and sizes of all windows are stored separately for each monitor.
Integrated MediaInfo
The Navigator information panel provides quick access to all metadata collected with MediaInfo at any time.
Image processing
Scaling and processing algorithms that provide high quality images are implemented in the form of shaders to utilize the hardware capabilities of the video card for calculations. The Navigator statistics panel displays detailed statistics on the image processing time, including the execution time of each shader.
EVR CP ( Custom presenter )
EVR CP improves the video frame quality of the EVR renderer by using image processing algorithms.
Image slideshow
Show images ( covers ) during audio playback or when the video is stopped. Image slideshow utilizes all the advantages of image processing algorithms.
Shader packs
The concept of sequential execution of several shaders as one logical unit. Shader pack scripts and HLSL sources come with open source code. The built-in shader pack editor allows you to both modify and compile existing shader packs, and create new ones.
Image processing configuration
Separate sets of image processing configurations for Slideshow, EVR CP and madVR video renderers. User-configurable order, parameters, on / off hotkeys of the shader packs. The default configuration includes shader packs that implements bicubic, lanczos, nnedi3 and other image processing algorithms.
Other features
DPI enabled application ( Big fonts support )
Both navigator and the windowed interface are scaled correctly at any system DPI.
DirectShow
All filters used in the DirectShow graph are customized. EVR CP and madVR are supported as video renderers, DirectVobSub as a subtitle renderer. There are no restrictions for using any other DirectShow filters.
Desktop application
Consists of a single executable module, does not require installation.
Full unicode and multilanguage support
English and Russian languages of user interface are supported.
Built-in parsers
Are intended for fast extraction of various metadata by import process (for example tags from cue-sheet or cover images) from the most popular formats of playlists and media containers.
System requirements
- Operating system Windows 7 or higher.
- Windows 7 only. Both Service Pack 1 and Platform update (KB 2670838) are required. Desktop composition (Aero theme) must be enabled for video playback to work.
- It is recommended to install LAV filters to support playback of the most common media formats, like MKV or FLAC.
- It is recommended to install the madVR video renderer to get the best video quality possible.
- The dsLibDVDNav filter is required for DVD playback.
- The dsLibBluray filter is required for Bluray menu playback.
